By volunteering your time, you may be asked to read a book to a classroom, help with a literacy activity, or more! Please expect to volunteer about one hour of your time. The school(s) you are interested in volunteering at will contact you with further details along with the required volunteer paperwork. School-Based Health Clinic is Open!
Junior High and High School Families - The Mason Health School Based Clinic located at the Shelton YMCA is now open! Schedule your well-child or well-teen appointments today! Call 360-426-2653, select the option for Primary Care, and then YMCA scheduling. You can bring your sports physical forms with you to the well-child/well-teen checkup.

Home Language Survey
Below you will find links to a short survey asking you four questions about your family and your student’s language preferences. You have a right to information about your child’s education in a language that you understand. We want to make sure we have updated information regarding the language you prefer to use when communicating with your student’s school. Please take a moment to complete this short survey if you have not done so already by selecting your child's school below.
Are you eligible for our McKinney-Vento program?
You may be eligible for services if you or your family live in any of the following situations:
- In a shelter, transitional housing, motel, vehicle, campground, or on the street
- In an abandoned building, trailer, or other inadequate accommodations
- Temporarily doubled-up with friends or relatives because you lost your home, or cannot afford housing
- Living as an unaccompanied youth without your parent or guardian
In the process of eviction or foreclosure
Some services offered to those in the program are Immunization assistance, Enrollment assistance, Free meal registration, School supplies/backpacks, PE uniforms, Clothing support, Hygiene supplies, School fees, Field trip or camp expenses, Laundry support, Transportation to and from the school of origin, Access to rental and utility assistance, Referrals to basic services (food, shelter, medical assistance, etc.), Bilingual support for Spanish speakers, And more!

Clothing, household Items, non-perishable food, community resources...we have you covered!
Are you in need of something? We can probably help! Our resource center has a clothing bank with clothing for all ages. All of the clothing is either new or laundered before entering the bank. A household item bank may also have what you need: bedding, small kitchen appliances, and more! The newest addition to the SFRC is the food bank and hygiene bank. If you are looking for a community connection, the SFRC can help you connect with the right resource.

It is the SFRC's goal to help every family find the information and resources available to ensure the most successful outcome from their educational experience in their respective schools. Please consider partnering with us this year, and thank you in advance for your contribution.
If you would like to help keep our food bank and clothing bank stocked, the following are our 'high-need' items: maseca, rice, beans, individually packed snack items, baby clothing, elementary-school-age sized clothing, new underwear, and black leggings in all sizes.

Washington State Governor’s Office of the Education Ombuds
The Washington State Governor’s Office of the Education Ombuds (OEO) is an independent state agency that helps to reduce educational opportunity gaps by supporting families, students, educators, and other stakeholders in communities across WA in understanding the K-12 school system and resolving concerns collaboratively. OEO services are free and confidential. Anyone can contact OEO with a question or concern about school.
OEO listens, shares information and referrals, and works informally with families, communities, and schools to address concerns so that every student can fully participate and thrive in our state’s public schools. OEO provides support in multiple languages and has telephone interpretation available. Energy Assistance - Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties

Huff 'N Puff Student Memorial
The Shelton School District is working with the Shelton Rotary Club to update the student memorial at the Huff 'N Puff trailhead. If you are aware of a high school or middle school student who was attending the Shelton School District and who passed away before reaching graduation, please reach out to Abe Gardner at 360-801-9555. We appreciate your help in making sure all students are honored.
Bag O' Books Program
Bag O' Books allows parents to order free books online for the whole family. Each child in the family receives 4 age-appropriate books and the parent can re-order a bag up to once a month. The program is completely free, and families are not obliged to return any of the books they receive. We send out notification emails when a family's bag is ready, and they have two weeks to pick their order up. Receive Free Books Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library provides children from birth up to age five a high-quality, age-appropriate book in the mail each month. Child Care Action Council will serve as the local affiliate for the Imagination Library in both counties, providing age-appropriate books each month to eligible children, at no cost to the family.
