Shelton's Transfers

Highly Capable Program Transfer Students

Students who transfer to Shelton Schools from out-of-district schools and have been served previously in a highly capable program are not automatically enrolled in our program. To transfer highly capable program service identification from an out-of-district school, please follow these guidelines:

  • Transferring from a public school within Washington State: send placement records to the building secretary, along with enrollment packet, indicating highly capable program service identification. Students who have been served in highly capable programs in a Washington public school will be enrolled for Highly Capable program services in the Shelton School District. A letter or placement documentation from the out-of-district Washington public school will indicate prior qualification for highly capable program services.
  • Transferring from a school outside of Washington State, or private school: send placement records to Adrienne Minnery, interim director of Curriculum and Instruction PK – 6. A team will review the records and notify families if further testing or information is needed to qualify for Highly Capable program services in the Shelton School District.
