Tell us about yourself!
I love travel and adventure. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend or in the summer is to travel to new places or explore other cities. One of the items on my bucket list is to travel to all fifty states!

I love sports! I have coached youth basketball and I am currently coaching youth track!

I still remember the President's song that I learned in Elementary school and it has helped me win two competitions!

What made you want to work for Shelton School District?
I was so drawn to working for Shelton from the beginning because I feel that I share a lot of the same values. I believe that high expectations inspire and challenge students to be successful. Not only that, I believe that it allows students to take ownership of their learning. With this being said, all students deserve high-quality education in a fun and engaging learning environment.

What do you look forward to the most about working here?
I am really looking forward to building partnerships with my students and their families. I hope that these partnerships will not just last a year, but throughout my students’ educational journeys! I also am so excited for my students to unlock the power of literacy and see themselves as readers and writers!

What do you love about teaching?
One of the biggest things I love about teaching is making school feel like a home and a family. I want all of my students to feel welcomed, included, safe and loved in my classroom. I love connecting with students and seeing their growth throughout the school year, personally, socially and academically. I will always be a support system that values the success of my students through high expectations. I love helping them see that they are capable learners and helping them to develop their resilience. I love that teaching doesn’t just have to be pencil and paper, and there are so many ways to make learning fun and engaging, especially when it is based on student interests!

What is one way you hope to inspire, challenge, and/or empower students?
I hope that all of my students will know that their backgrounds and experiences are valued. I want the students in my class to get a chance to explore diverse experiences, by sharing their own experiences but also by learning about the experiences of others. I think that for students to feel empowered and inspired, they need to know that their experiences, whether they are similar or different from others, make them capable of accomplishing their dreams and I will always be there to support them and advocate for them!
